Zambia: OVER 400 MINERS LOSE JOBS AT LUBAMBE MINE

Over four hundred miners at Lubambe Copper Mines in Chililabombwe on the Copperbelt Province have lost their jobs.

The affected were directly employed by the mine through contracting firms whose contracts have been terminated.

Mine Workers Union of Zambia MUZ President Joseph Chewe says the miners are from Redpath whose contract has been terminated while the contract for Reliant Mining has come to an end.

Mr. Chewe has regretted the latest job losses and has urged Government to seriously review the issue of contractors
