The mining industry will gather at the Johannesburg Expo Centre from 7–11 September 2026 for Electra Mining Africa, bringing together industry suppliers, decision makers, contractors, professionals and technology providers from across the continent to explore new technologies, compare equipment, meet new suppliers and discover solutions that drive safer, smarter and more efficient mining operations.
Held every two years, the exhibition returns at a time when mining companies are under increasing pressure to increase production of the minerals needed for the energy transition while reducing energy consumption, improving efficiency and lowering the environmental impact of their operations.
ABB will be among this year’s participants, exhibiting under the theme “Powering Leaner. Driving Cleaner. Enabling the Future of Mining.” The company will demonstrate how the integration of electrification, automation and digitalisation can help mining operations improve productivity, energy efficiency, reliability and sustainability.

At Electra Mining Africa, ABB will bring this approach to life by demonstrating how its electrification, automation and digitalisation technologies can work together to address current mining challenges and support more efficient, connected and future-ready operations. ABB will showcase the Compact Secondary Substation, LeanGear Panel, SCADA Panel and SafePlus Air, alongside a Digital Product Display Kiosk with Relays. It will also showcase the Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Demo Vehicles, giving delegates, industry stakeholders and media an opportunity to engage with the technologies in a practical exhibition environment
ABB will also host a 30-minute media breakfast on 7 September 2026 from 08:00–08:30 at its B12 stand, which will set the scene for the event and give media an opportunity to engage directly with its local and global leadership team. The session will explore how the convergence of electrification, automation and digitalisation is reshaping the future of mining and the industry’s direction.
Throughout the exhibition, ABB representatives will be available for media briefings, technical discussions and one-on-one engagements, offering further opportunities to explore how its solutions are tailored to the needs of the African mining landscape.
