SKF recently conducted a two-day alignment training course, exposing a key customer in the manufacturing and repair sector to the TKSA 71 alignment tool. Prior to the training, the customer had already requested a quotation on a TKSA 51 unit. However, the TKSA 71 instrument’s ease of use and range of applications greatly impressed the customer so much so that they requested a quote on two units as well as on two sets of SKF shim kits TMAS 720.
“Our training course covers all aspects of alignment, including practical and theory work,” says Eddie Martens, SKF Product Manager MaPro. “It is standard practice for us to make use of SKF products in the practical part of our training courses and in this instance we used the TKSA 71 shaft alignment tool. We are adding value for our customers by exposing them to our products during training because it relates directly back to what they require. This enables us to meet their exact needs with the best and most efficient solutions. By now having two TKSA 71 units and two shim kits available, the customer has increased their scope of work. Not only can they carry out a wider range of services, they can now also do field work, enabling them to boost their service offering to customers.”
SKF’s user-friendly TKSA 71 unit boasts some of the thinnest measuring heads on the market, making it ideal for carrying out shaft alignment in confined spaces. The instrument has a measuring distance between the heads of 10 metres. The measuring heads are IP67 rated due to the fact that they are wirelessly charged and therefore there are no open ports. This eliminates the risk of contaminant ingress like dust and water. In addition to carrying out both horizontal and vertical alignment, the equipment has the flexibility to also do spacer shaft and machine train alignment. The SKF shim kit TMAS 720 is manufactured from stainless steel, ensuring extreme durability and reliability. “We have a wide range of shims on offer for everyday use during the alignment process,” concludes Martens.
