Castillo Copper advances copper and lithium assets across portfolio in Australia and Zambia

“Conditions have been challenging with sweltering heat, brush fires and intermittent thunderstorms resulting in a number of down days. Moving ahead, the board intends to release a full progress report on drilling at the Arya Prospect, which is anticipated to be within the next week,” says MD.

Castillo Copper Ltd  has made broad progress across its portfolio over the financial year to date, progressing its copper operations in Queensland and Zambia while simultaneously conducting due diligence on the Litchfield and Picasso lithium projects in the Northern Territory and Western Australia, respectively.

Castillo Copper is an Australian-based explorer primarily focused on copper across Australia and Zambia. The company is embarking on a strategic transformation into a mid-tier copper group underpinned by four high-quality assets; the NWQ Copper Project, the Zambian Zed Projects, the Broken Hill silver-zinc-lead project and the Cangai copper mine.

The company is also progressing two lithium projects – Litchfield and Piccasso – within the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

Arya advances despite adversity

Initial exploratory drilling at Arya Copper Prospect in the Mt Isa copper-belt of northwest Queensland has progressed despite challenging logistical hurdles and difficult conditions, with a more updated report to be released within the next week.

Castillo Copper managing director Simon Paull commented, “Castillo’s board would like to sincerely thank the team on site at the Arya Prospect for all their diligent hard work over the past few weeks progressing our pioneering drilling campaign forward.

“Conditions have been challenging with sweltering heat, brush fires and intermittent thunderstorms resulting in a number of down days. Moving ahead, the board intends to release a full progress report on drilling at the Arya Prospect, which is anticipated to be within the next week.”

Interest in the Mt Isa copper-belt continues to grow, with Rio Tinto acquiring contiguous tenements on the eastern boundary of Castillo’s NWQ Copper Project.

Litchfield Lithium Project

Desktop due diligence has been completed at Litchfield and the geology team is awaiting results from more than 650 surface sample assays to be returned from laboratories in Adelaide and Vancouver.

The results are expected imminently and will allow CCZ’s geology team to determine the potential for contiguous mineralisation with Core Lithium Ltd (ASX:CXO)’s Finniss Lithium Project.

Picasso Lithium Project

CCZ’s geology team also completed a sampling and exploration visit to the Picasso Lithium Project, where it collected surface samples and assessed the extent of pegmatite outcropping along the eastern boundary of the project. A full update will be available shortly.

Luanshya and Mkushi projects

Induced Polarisation (IP) surveying and interpretation have been completed at the Luanshya Project. The geology team identified 14 potential targets and work is now focused on developing an inaugural drilling campaign.

An IP survey targeting surface copper at Mkushi is underway. Upon completion, a geophysical interpretation report will be published by Castillo, determining the next course of action.
