Remote communications service, Speedcast, has been awarded a contract to provide services to Sasol.
The multi-year project will see the company deliver communications and onsite IT support at four oil & gas exploration camps in Mozambique.
The announcement was made on Thursday, 1 August 2019.
Speedcast notes that while this is their first project for Sasol, it is the sixth time they have been awarded projects in Mozambique.
The company says their solution is to “set up to account for potentially harsh weather with C-band VSAT connectivity as well as terrestrial fibre optic backhaul, satellite phones and a terrestrial radio infrastructure including mobile data backup and portable radio over IP using Inmarsat BGAN”.
“Value-added solutions include internal and external voice services, Wi-Fi and crew welfare communications to each site.
Speedcast will provide 24/7 onsite IT support managing internet, firewalls, document storage, printing, VoIP and teleconferencing”.
