Jwaneng Mine recently welcomed Environmental Health students from the University of Botswana, providing them with a valuable and hands-on learning experience as part of their academic development.
The visit commenced with an in-depth session led by Mr. Kenanao Modimoofile, Jwaneng Mine Safety and Health Manager. He provided a comprehensive overview of Jwaneng Mine’s approach to safety, health, and environmental stewardship. The presentation offered students valuable insight into how the mine integrates sustainability and safety into it is operational processes.
The students were taken to Jwaneng Mine pit to observe large-scale mining activities firsthand. Their experience continued at the EM14 Workshop, where they gained practical insight into how equipment maintenance and technical operations are managed to ensure safe and efficient mining.
In his closing remarks, Professor Wilfred Nunu, of the University of Botswana, expressed gratitude to the Safety and Sustainable Development (S&SD) team for facilitating a well-organized and impactful visit, emphasizing the importance of such industry-academic collaborations in shaping skilled, responsible professionals.
